Baseball World Series

I enquired from NASN on whether they would be showing the World Series Live (they have shown live games so far this season) and I got the following reply

"Unfortunately, NASN will be unable to bring you live coverage of the World
    Series.
The live rights to these games are held, exclusively, by other broadcasters.
NASN will bring you the World Series, in primetime, the following day."

Does anybody know who the 'other broadcasters' with 'exclusive' rights might be? SKY Sports?
Does anybody know who has covered the games live in Ireland or the UK previously? And please don't let it be C4 or C5!!!!

How does Channel 5 have the Irish rights to the World Series when they refuse to give us access to their programmes?

Or is it that NASN would not be bothered with taking up the Irish rights due to the small audience?

if NASN were to show it over here it would mean blank screens in the UK when it was on. this whole split rights thing annoys the hell out of me too but i dont get NASN in anycase. i remember it happened with the WWE aswell a few years ago. C4 had the rights to 4 WWE PPVs every year yet C4 wasnt available on satellite over here. i had to make do with dodgy S4C analogue

It is a pity that NASN insist on a subscriber taking out a minimum 12 month subscription. I would certainly dearly love to subscribe for this month and even the last month or two to see the baseball playoffs and even a delayed timed world series.

I miss Channel 5 on my old card...

I'm sure they offered a month by month option when they started up last year. I'm on the 12 month sub myself, but my memory is that a monthly option used to be available, though at a higher rate than for the annual sub.

I've looked at their website, and there seems to be no sign of a monthly option, but perhaps if you try to subscribe by phone, it will be available there.

I thought the point was that it'll be just the same with the cubs gone.:(

(it'd be nice to see them win one. Genuinely looking good for next year though)

I put my FTV card in on Saturday night to watch the baseball but Channel 5 was giving me the message: Call 0870..... to upgrade your subscription.

The other channels were all ok.

Has something changed recently with five or should I just leave in the card until it comes back?

I was using the card the weekend before and five was on so this seems a bit odd to me.

If you leave the card in overnight five should return.

Was in Wrigley last year and was such a high to go there.

Yes was there a couple of years ago. What a great old stadium. Also saw Cubs against SF Giants last year when Bonds was trying for his 600. Fantastic atmosphere.

Sorry mods, I know this is waaayyy off topic...

Yes I looked on the NASN website and it seemed quite explicit that the minimum contract was twelve months and that you could then subscribe by the month if one wished. Bah... no good now anyway...
