    i work full time at a 9-6, 5 days every week.. but am expected to work every second saturday on top of this as part of my normal week... is this common/legal?

    or are they taking the piss? I also often work all day with maybe 15 minutes break if im lucky...

    sounds like a crappy job. Do you get overtime for your saturday work?

    nope - no overtime for the saturday.. only if u work the other second saturday aswell ie every saturday - then u get a half days pay every second week... its confusing i know....

    Yes and no. While they legally can't demand you work the extra time, it's quite common for them to expect you to. Where I'm working now, everybody is expected to do overtime. I know several IT graduates working insane hours and not getting paid extra but I'd never do it myself. Helping out the company is one thing........
