Does any1 know a tv series called "Prisoner"?
It was about a secret agent or something who quit his job and when he was packing for his holiday someone drugged him adn when he woke up he was in a prison but it was called "The Village" and no one there had names only numbers. The man was number 6 and if u tried to escape a huge balloon would chase u down a beach or something...
Iv never seen it but really want to. Its really old like 1960s and i just wanted to know if there are any channels who show it???
    Thanks!

    Ah! :D

One of the all-time great telly programmes. It ran for 17 episodes in 1968 and was the brainchild of star Patrick McGoohan who also starred in Danger Man which the Prisoner was a spin-off from. It was made by ITC for the ITV Network who saw the ratings and pulled the show early - it should have run 26 episodes which is why the last couple of episodes are even wierder than the rest!
(it was still in prodcution as it was being shown).

Alot of cult-fandom has sprung up around the show and there are ppl who know every line of dialogue and can name you every guest star and in which episode they appear. Think of it as the X-Files of its era.

The Village was the "sanctuary" that those who had fallen foul of the international intelligence system end up in. Only No 6 is willing to try and escape and is always rubbing the controller (No 2) up the wrong way. The identity of No 1 was not revealed until the very end by which time all mayhem had been let loose...I wont spoil it for you!

The last time it was TV was when N2 showed it about 18-24 months back, Channel 4 also have rights to it and the Sci-Fi Channel may also have rights.

    Mike.

It was a brilliant show, just don't watch it if you like watching things that make sense.
You can pick it up on DVD from play.com.

Don't be so cheap! They're only €70 or something.
