I just moved house. Put my duvet & all my cds in a few boxes & bags.

Unfortunately, the house is freezing. For the past week - I had a terrible headcold.

I decided, I ought to buy a big whooly blanket. But shops seem only to to be stocking Duvets. I tried a number of department stores in Cork - but to no avail.

    Where can one get blankets?

Duvets are fine - If you are living in either warmer houses or warmer climates.

Try some sort of "outdoors" shop, camping sleeping bags can be very warm. Unzip them and use them as a rug.

Try wearing a hoody in bed till you get it sorted.

I would also reccomend one of the sleeping bags from the Outdoor shops. They are usually extremely warm and built/made for keeping you warm while its freezing outside.

You can pick them up from about €30+

Get a Duvet with a high TOG value - not all duvets are the same.

Get someone to share your bed with you, they will keep you warm

A few weeks ago, Lidl were selling feather duvets. They were about €30 though dunno how warm they were. Feather duvets are supposed to be warm if you're not allergic.

On the subject of blankets, is it possible to get soft furry blankets, like animal fur but fake obviously. Figure that'd be pretty sweet to have.

my girlfriend can be a wet blanket at times. :)

Sleepin bag your only man, can get them for different temperatures ie: -10 -20 -30 degrees. Also come with big cosy hood so you won't want to get out of it, like bein back in the womb!

Also check what the blanket is made from.
Wool blankets send me into sneezing fits.

If you miss the weight of a blanket when using duvets, you could use heavy cotton sheets and put a spread (or light rug type thing on top)..
