    who says?

Its not based on a Comic Book series but M. Night wrote it like it was a Comic Book character and it has loads of links to comics.

Example: The character has same initals forename and surname - David Dunne

Peter Parker, Lois Lane, J. Jonah Jameson, Lex Luthor, Matt Murdock, Reed Richards, Bruce Banner, Scott Summers
The nemesis is the opp in everything to the hero. Bruce is unbreakable but Sam smashes to bits easily.

The colours are subdued except for some important things.

Theres a few themes going on like in a comic. Theres the whole reflection thing with Mr Glass and all the purple around him.

Theres the whole upside down theme too. Have a look again and you'll notice the girl stands on her hands just before the crash. His son watches tv upside down. Jackson sees the flash of the gun when he falls and lands upside down. The sign at the swimming pool is upside down.

Oh yeah I forgot to add that I liked the movie a lot. Very slow moving but intricately shot. Cinematograpgy is superb and the evolution of the hero and seeing him figuring out his powers was great.

And the ending where he is told since he is a superhero he needs a nemesis.

And did ya see the way the Jackson charactor was locked up in an asylum at the end. Clasic comic book ending , leaving the way clear for a sequel (prob wont be)
I still think it would have been better if they had gone for lesser known actors tho, just coulnt get into it with Willis.

Now "Bruce Billis" you need a nemesis

Now "Glassman" I push you down the stairs.

    the end.

Interesting points of view, all of them.

I just thought it was plain pants!

    'Unwatchable' more like it.

I didnt see the dam movie... I was looking forward to seeing it when it was on RTE but i got called into work that night, and now, after reading these posts, im getting the story line and ending, i hate when people spoil (or in this case almost spoil) the endings

I thought the movie was excellent - a great story and well shot. The directing was fantastic except for the fact that it did go a little slow at times. It was meant to be a slow film where you come to the realisation around the same time as the main character that maybe he has powers rather than just being very lucky.

However I didn't like Bruce Willis in this. I usually like Bruce but I detest any roll he has where he isn't throwing in some form of humour. He always was a comedian and he was good at it - even back at school he was the class clown. When he tries to play a serious role he just comes out looking like a manic depressant wondering when his next casting will be - oh woe is me...

Apart from that - great film.

It was a brilliant film. And c'mon it had great comic moments! "Friends don't shoot each other..." :D

I had heard just after seeing it in the cinema that there was a trilogy planned. I guess it didn't do well enough or that was a lie. Still I'd love to see it happen. I'm guessing if there was a sequel the villain would be bruce's equal <someone who was really tough or something physical> and then if there was a third he and glassman would team up (gradually getting more comicbook like as it progressed).

    Ahh, its been a while...

I remember how I felt that just as the film was getting good, it came to an end. The text didn't serve as an adequate climax...

I though it was great. Though everyone I was in the cinema with hated it.

I think as a stand alone film it would be seen as a waste of time, but I think to those of us who read comics we must have at some stage in our lives thought "What would it be like to be our favourite comics hero", and this film just reminds us of that feeling. Two not so normal humans finding their lives mimicing comic books - one who's wanted it his whole life, and one who was trying not to see it.

I've never seen the comic for it? Is it still around? It's weird that i haven't heard of it, cause when I whenever i get the chance to go home I go into Other Relams, never seen it?! Is it really that good? Who's the artist/publisher?

It was never meant to be a Trilogy. He said there would not be a sequel but he might use some of the characters in other stories in the future and that was a big *might*.
