Me too, I believe the problem is with Safaris' limited implementation of Cascading style sheets.Should be better/fixed with the next Safari release.

Besides the menus being compacted there is also a pause which hangs Safari for 2-5 seconds when I click the submit button. This problem is also evident with Mozilla on Macos and Windows.

yeah there are still a few sites causing problems :(

but the thing was, the crowd who develop the menu system say the latest version works with Safari (re: this thread in Admin / Support)

just none of the boards.ie team seemed interested :(

I pm'ed ecksor about this and he was going to check into their licence details and have a look...
I think the latest version of the menu works differently so I assume it won't be so straightforward to swap the new for the old....

I use mozilla for browsing but would prefer to use Safari if the menu was fix0red...
    Patience grasshopper....

i never assume anything is straightforward ;)

but the sound of slience isn't the most encouraging response to user feedback :)

I've also been having problems with Safari and other browsers on boards.ie and contacted the admin guys months ago.

They seem to be of the opinion that it is the off the shelf sofware that boards.ie runs on, which causes the problems.

    Who knows?

It's a pain in the ass though...

have found VB (vBulletin) runs smoothly enough in Safari (after it moved from Beta) - it's the dynamic menu system that still caues the biggest hassle for the basic task of navigating around the site :(

I see the same problems with the menus on the top... all of the text is scrunched up.

It works fine in Camino, Mozilla, Firebird etc. but not in Safari. It's a pity Camino isn't as snappy as Safari...

The menus are annoying OK. I find there is also a lag when loading forums that does not occur on I.E.. Seems to take about 4 or 5 seconds before anything happens after clicking. I use IOLBB.

We do listen. Things move slowly though.

especially when the upgrade of that thing was such a frickin' pain, I'm just glad that cloud took it over from me ...

I can now return to boards.ie after months of absence.Who fixed it ? Boards or the Safari update ?

Anyone notice the 2/3 second delay which freezes Safari when a boards.ie page loads ?

  • Subscribers Posts: 4,419 ✭✭✭PhilipMarlowe

Yeah, that delay is getting right annoying now...

    Hi Dub,

You mention te safari issue (menu all bunched up) has been resolved yet I am running safari 1.0 and OS 10.3.1 and I still have this issue

I managed to make the scrunched-up text go away by selecting 'minimalist' in the 'Change Styles' menu.

It's another matter alas, to actually get at the Change Styles menu via scrunched text!
