G5 RAM upgrade

    Hope someone can help,
I tried to upgrade a G5 lately, has 512 dual channel ram DDR 400MHz. The 1 GB upgrade on the MAC site was over €500(no way)
Tried to put in 1GB GEIL dual 400, under the notion that it would be normal non-ecc, non-registered cheap 400 Dual Channel RAM.
There are latency differences, but my ram is faster, and ram is always able to underclock
OS/x can see the ram, can boot with the ram, but will not use it?

    Sticker on working RAM
    Samsung
    Korea 0336
    PC3200U-30331-AL
    M386L3223ETM-CCC
    256MB DDR pc3200 CL3
The G5 reads it through the operating system hardware tester as
    PC3200 - 30330 DDR SDRAM
    CL:3:5.0, CL2.5:6.0 (ns)

    the ram I bought
    OS/X recognises it as
    Unknown 20330 DDR SDRAM
    CL:2:5.0 (ns)
    13-3, CL2-3-3 Ultra - 400
    gives the error
    "post 10/2048 Dimm3/J14"
a subsequent test gave an error of "post 0/2048 Dimm3/J14"

    Anyone any ideas?
