Problem with D-Link DSL 300G+ and SMC Router

I have just connected to Netsource SOHO package. However I have a problem with my home network setup. I have three computers setup through an SMC 7008ABR router. This works perfectly, all computers can see each other and can access each other.
I have set up my DSL-300G+ as stated in both its manual and Netsources guide and can connect to the internet etc.
The problem occurs when I connect the 300G+ into the WAN port of the router (where it states an ADSL modem should go). The D-Link is also a DHCP server so I have the router setup to receive a DHCP address automatically. When I connect it all up, nothing happens ie. I can connect to the router but not to the internet - the router states that the WAN connection is active (LED) but on its status page it says the DSL connection is Disconnected.

Any help here would be appreciated!

You need to make sure the SMC router is doing the PPPOE dialling. The SMC router has to get the Internet IP address.
In order to get it to do this you'll need to configure the Ethernet modem in whats called bridging mode.
VPI/VCI settings will go in the modem but there will be no username and password in the modem.
The username and password from Netsource will be in the routers config. (The PPPOE dialler section)
