    From BoingBoing
Stefan sez, "The fossil fuel industry and their ideological brown-nosers have done a great job of spreading FUD about Global Warming. This leaked internal EPA memo details the Bush Administration's own contribution to the effort." This is a disheartening and enraging document.

    I'm hardly surprised.

When the Bush administration took office, it rolled out some fringe scientists to dispute the general wisdom (tm) that fossil fuel consumption was linked to climate change.

If one takes the view that an Impreialist war was fought in Iraq to annex cheap petroleum for the American economy, revalations about EPA global warming reports being emasculated by the same administration is hardly surprising.

Personally I think there is little chance of humans voluntarily moving away from fossil fuels, until the melted water from ice caps is literally flooding in the front door... then... maybe with a suitable amount of procrastination and heel digging, 'something' would be done to move away from fossil fuels.

    Roll on Cold Fusion.

Dont you need fossil fuels to generate Hyrogen and therefore its not really a clean source of energy production?

    H2O ..

Well seawater contains Deuterium which I think is what they use ...

Hydrogen Fuel cells are based on good ol' H2 - normal hydrogen.

The cost of producing it in bulk is - at the moment - relatively high, but there is lots of progress in that area.

The bigger problems come from storage costs, to be honest.

Hydrogen can be produced from Algae , Electricity (solar/hydro), Water sprayed on red hot coke(coal), some petrochemical refining operations etc. etc.

Duterium is not much use - ideal fusion fuel 'cos is not radioactive but that 's only in theory
Tritium - Radioactive isotope of hydrogen - can be used for fusion.
PS. D2O is very mch rarer than DHO

NOTE: Fuel cells do produce toxic waste have a look at www.dhmo.org
