OK.....1m dish, fell down hit roof not damaged, but when i put it back in it's place it was not tracking the arc.

I was getting 1w then 5e 10e 13e, 19e but not 28.2 or further and nothing west,,,,, these were all working previous, from 30w to 36e.

Can you help at all Tony?

    :)

I dont know until you tell me what kind of sytem you have, receiver, mounts etc, just saying 1m dish gives me no idea what you have. You might also take a look at watty's site, I think there may be some details there how to align a motorised dish.

What else do you need to know, just to re-align the dish???

You definately dont need to know the receiver,,,

So what exactly is that meant to mean.......you dont know how much I know, do you.

Why did you go out of you way to post a comment like that, I'm only looking for help.

FIRE, I can appreciate you are looking for help, I myself can not help you with your querie however perhaps either of the other two posters can if you give them a chance instead of getting on the defensive... I too would ask about your setup mainly because you may have an actuator which is relatively easy to set up or a horizon to horizon mount which is harder and very tedious...

Give the others a chance, you may find they CAN help you, given the chance.

    Regards

    Steven.

OK fair enough, 1m white solid dish Triax, triax polar mount, 12" gentact actuator, universal LNB, a Pole, 2 brackets, 6 plugs, 4 core cable, 3 cable ties, patched manhattan starlight 6800, and a purple funcard, with a millenium programmer.(with codes for various dutch, german channels)

Enough information there to help a blind man.

    :D

Thank you for the information, I can see your problem straight away, its the cable ties... I bet theyre white plastic ones...
    lol

Simply set the controls to point to Astra 2, and then point the dish in the same direction as your neighbours SKY dish.

Or Simply get the original installer to reinstall it , BTW who installed it on the roof - sat dishes don't tend to fall down if installed competently - so send your bile that way !!

Was it attached to the chimney ? - if so the word "cowboy" comes to mind..

This is going a bit far now isnt it........all I did was post Could anybody help, or point me in the right direction....that was all.

What is the point of boards if not to get help or find maybe some useful information. Instead all there seems to be is abuse, chernobyl:I'm in no way arrogant, nothing was aimed at you, you chose to look in this thread and A: point out that you need to know a lot more than me, when dealing with a dish alignment, as I stated you DONT know how much I know. And B:Chose to give abuse when I questioned you for an answer.

Tony: I dont know everything, as I asked I wanted help or to be recommemded the right people to do the job. All I wanted to know was why you needed to know what set-up I had, I have been up to the dish and moved it (Bandit was also there helping me) but failed to get it tracking the arc..... If you could have helped with this part that was all I needed to know. It just seemed that you didnt really need to know what kind of a set-up I had(as Bandit explained to me that I should have just replied what I had and not to get defensive) as I would be able to work the receiver, you didnt need to see this if you were going to help me, all you would have need to do was just re-align the dish.

Anyway sorry to all involved. Didnt mean to cause controversy, not my style at all.

BTW tony that last remark Thanks for the help was genuine, It's just a shame people cant see my emotions or face when I'm posting as I dont think it would have got this far.

So I wonder if we can put it all behind us and if Tony or anyone else can help that would be great.

CM: The dish is on a pole on the back of the house the dish is just above the gutter, and the dish fell down on to the slates, from about 1-2 ft.

    Anyway sorry again.

This is being helpful: You have two guys and yet you still cannot do it? Then you need professional [on site] help. If you did some research on the net there are plenty of sites advising you what to do and peoples own experiences of doing this.

Pick a Satellite say 19E (align the dish as best you can for it) and then you send the dish left a right and see what you pick up and make adjustments based on that.

Apparently its best to go for 8W as its the truest south and gives better accuracy.

Well not to get too smart......but it was 2 guys up 2 ladders holding on for dear life. Its in a very awkward position, but out of the way no to look out of place.

Anyway, I gave B@ndit a hand installing his father-in-laws minidish, also we re-installed his motorised dish when he moved house and also his minidish.

So we have a bit of experience, but I think there is something faulty with the dish, I dont plan on keeping it for too long (there could be court proceeding about this, and I cant say to much at the moment, but when it's all finished I liked to post my story on here and see if people have been dealt ith in the same way) I'm planning on getting maybe something in the uk and it would be this dish that I would need re-aligning (maybe) I think I (WE) were getting it all wrong because of the faulty dish.

Seems that when it goes to say 19.2, then you try to being it back to 13, it was missing out by like 30 clicks. so if 13 was on 5469 it would end up on 5499 and weird things like that. Looks to be a plate at the back of the dish that has what looks like a place for a bolt but there is none there.

I apprecite it if you could point me maybe to a site that you felt helpful, but this was the place I thought I'd get better help, but due to my DEFENSIVE nature I took offence.

Anyway thanks for the help.........:D :D:D i'm being genuine.

In that case I withdraw my remark. I did however point out to you that I needed to know exactly what set up you have in order to either help you directly, or point you in the right direction, instead of answering this you questioned why I needed to know this information which just annoyed me, it would have better if you had just answered the question as put to you in good faith. You also stated that I "definitely did not need to know the receiver" , how do you know what information I need or dont need?

Well as previously stated it's a Manhattan 6800.
    :)

You dont sell any Motorised systems on satellite.ie tony, are you gonna go into them or stick with sky digital?

Of course we sell motorised systems, the echostar 3600. I wish I could ditch sky, we make feck all out the free boxes but it does lead to other sales like tv links etc.

Did you buy the manhattan from electroplus by any chance? maybe they could sort it for you

    Sorry for OT

No I got it from Wizard satellite in the UK.

Well it's just I was looking at the site and couldnt see any Motorised systems!! (just went back I was looking in the wrong place)

Would I need to PM you to find out a price for a system, I would be looking for 1-1.2m dish, Actuator, (I have my own LNB) I know there are standard prices, but if I was only buying a few bits.

Do you have any Magic cams? Didnt see any!!

So the selling of sky is really slow at the moment? I thought that Motorised systems would be on the increase with all the non-nationals in the country now.

    :)
