The college system is fairly well guarded against mp3 sites. If they have mp3 in the name you can't access them. Just doenload from other sites.

Can you run it from a zip or does it need to update the windows registry files??

I used to be able to run some program for downloading mps from a zip during my time in ITC, Think it was satelitte something

U wont be able to install anything no acess to c: drive and the tunnel is a pain in the ass to get running in here. The college firewall is pretty top notch ****. Got it running last year but only had 5k connection through the tunnel so was pointless really.

ws_ftp works for accessing ftp sites.
ws_ftp is program files and works if you copy the folder to the d: drive of the machines. i just tried it there and it connects to my ftp server no problem.

does filetopia work?? can you use Kazaa or any other of those friendly internet programs if you bring in a laptop and connect by the wireless network??

still the same firewall and proxy!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,219 ✭✭✭Redrocket

filetopia works but its ****ing ****. its too slow, doesnt connect most of the time, hard to find **** on, when you do find something it downloads very slow OR randomly disconnects from the person your downloading from or just doesnt download at all. its ****. if you bring in a laptop, its under the same resrictions as all the other computers on the network as they're all under the same firewall/proxy as moonbeam pointed out. as far as i know very few downloader programs like kazaa support http proxy downloads

keep fingers crossed that we keep net...
Was in college today, and at approx 11.45 received msg from virus scanner telling me svchost.exe infected with Nichi.worm
    [spelling prob off]
then all http net went down lol ... heard screaches from all round room - so hopefully servers wont get it ... and sorted for mon, or college gonna be boardsless - and prob lot less students in if no boards :D
