    Hi
Would someone tell me whether or not the ADSL modem which EsatBT supplies has a CAT5 connection for a router? And also what does a self install entail exactly?

    Hi there,

I'm on Esat BT / IOL, and the modem you get is USB only, in this case a Zyxel P630.
Self install just means you get the modem and a CD with an instruction sheet. I found it fairly straightforward (for a Mac OS/X, which I know nothing about from a technical viewpoint).
If you want to start networking, you can either buy a separate ADSL modem/router/switch (wired or wireless) as I did (there is a sticky on the board with some recommendations from others), or if you want to share with other devices but use the USB modem, you could use some sort of connection sharing (ICS on Windows).
I think there may be threads on here about ICS, if not you'll find loads on the internet or Microsoft's web site.

    best of luck
