My 12 month contract with Sky is up at the end of this month and I would like some feedback on whether to cancel my sub or not. Have many of ye cancelled the subscription since BBC went FTA I am curious to know?

I turned my card upside down the other night and the annoying thing was that I had to waft through all the encrypted channels to get to the FTA ones. Is there any trick I can do to avoid this? I know this will be very tedious.

The other problem of course is all the Irish channels will be back to the aerial in the attic again and the reception quality won't be as good but I can live with this

Get a good aerial on Chimbly

Put the FTA you want in Favorites

Make up a post card with names of TV and numbers on one side and names of Radio and numbers on the otther.

You can Jump in main planner by typing number.

Cancel sKy, get a DVD player and by DVDs with saved money.

Or it you want endless repeats and US imports and spending lots keep paying.

Disconnect phone line in either case and then you will be less likely to lose Digibox to a storm.

You can resubscribe by phone in minutes for as short as a month any time now, so nothing to lose really.

Leave card in upside down for easy access to BBC radiop and extra BBC TV and ITV when it joins BBC maybe next autumn,

Why not change your package with Sky? Isn't the smallest package about 6 channels? Why not pick those you would like to keep, enjoy the FTA channels and use your ariel. That way you still have a strong collection of channels to pick from at min cost.

the thing with that is you cannot pick certain channels you want to keep. they are already set out and they are a rip off in all fairness

Family pack is best value. Lower value packs cost nearly as much and have very few channels.

Stick with sky, whats the point in paying for sky digital to receive bbc etc. How could anybody do without skys football coverage, prime example man utd v arsenal, that kinda game makes it all worth my while.

I have piles of dvds, hardly use movies but i allways find something to pass the time on sky. I agree 60 euros a month is way to high but sky has a few good points.

Watty is spot on, no point having sky unless you go family pack, the other deals are very poor in comparison!
