I didn't hear about this until my ex girlfriend told me about it, and i thought it was only for women.

Do any other guys out there suffer from it? I woke up this morning with it and its really painfull. The way i get rid of it is by drinking loads of water and flushing it out.
But i've been reading online that you should go to the doctor with it. I don't get it that often, about 3 times a year maybe.

Is it a common problem for guys? or is it just me???

*** 3 times a year sounds like a recurring case that has never fully left your system. 100% advisable to go to the doctor. You'll probably get a cream, is all. But untreated and it could get serious

    to the doctor me boy

If you go to a chemist and get Cannesten cream it will do the trick. It's non-prescription so it will save you a few quid going to the doctor.

Yip, it's a common enough problem with guys and girls, but it's very much treatable from home.
If it flares up again get yourself and your partner some antibiotic cream a and make sure that the both of you go on the same prescribed course.
And, put natural yogurt on your shopping list - it helps fight yeast infections

There maybe foods you are eating which have you continuing to have thrush on such a regular basis, avoid yeast products

taking some acidopholus capsules is great for helping to prevent it coming back (but only after you get rid of it)
If you have it in your system, you could be passing it onto a GF and then her in turn passing it back to you, so best get both of you treated. I'd say skip the cansten for now and go straight to your GP. If it's reoocuring this much you might need something stronger to knock it on the head and also what Beruthiel said is quite true about certain foods making it worse and causing a flair up.

While people have suggested Canesten, it is always better to go to the doc before self-medicating. As our Lady Moderator sayeth, it could also be down to food eaten, yeast allergy or something else (too much beer, for example) for which a cream might deal with the symptoms, but not the cause

You can also use natural yougart instead of the cream, supposed to be work.
And also eat lots of the stuff, esp orgainic stuff.
