Got my upgrade

So, I had two phonelines, netsource on one, and Eircom on the other one.

Now, after the netsource fiasco, I got rid of them and upgraded my Eircom line to 1MBit uncapped. I now have a solid 90 in ping playing UT (except Jolt, where I get 65 which to me is a good ping).

I know this is due to the interleaving (did some research on this board before upgrading). I was just wondering, is there anyone who has managed to get Eircom to turn off the interleaving??

I really dont like paying 204 a month, but Eircom is unfortunately my only option (dont even mention netsource as an option).
I live in the D15 area, and if IBB could get me connected, I'd take them straight away (even with the 8 gig cap).

I can add that the difference between uncapped and 8gig capped 1MBit isn't that much, which is why I got the uncapped.

Interleaving is a method of reducing packet loss on your DSL line. It means that your connection is more reliable but latency suffers as a result.

Do a search on the broadband board and the Ireland Offline boards for interleaving and you will come up with some good explanations.

Eircom can turn interleaving off on a specific adsl line. In general though, they won't unless the interleaving is causing a problem.

Cool.. if they can turn my interleaving off, I'd love it!! I'm gonna call them every day until they do! :)

I've used the 1MBit line a little now, and realized that the pings arent bad, you just have to find good servers.
On UT2003, I get 60 - 65 in ping to Jolt in the UK. The problem is, that virtually every other server but Jolt gives me 90 - 95 in ping :/

I must say that I am still much much happier with this line than the 512/128 line. The problem with the 512 line is really the 128 up. If they could put it up to 256, I'd be much much better for gameplaying!
