Just been to the O2 Site (possible the worst site to use in the history of the internet) and noticed this ad on the front page:

    Speakeasy Surfers:

Surf the net on your phone for only 1c per kilobyte. So now you can check your bank account, place bets, download ringtones and more
Find out what else you can do with WAP (Click here)

    (it's attached too)

but when i go into that link, and into costs
    (http://www1.o2.ie/products_services/tariffs/speak_easy)

    i get:

    GPRS per KB 3c 3c 3c
GPRS per KB while Roaming 5c 5c 5c
    (morning, evening, weekend)

Is this false advertising, or are they just incompetent?

at 1c a KB, i may actually use GPRS for something...

    Humm....

Yes I had a lok at their site, although the front page says 1c per KB [which is bloody expensive if you ask me] their tarrifs page is still saying 3c. Possibly they still have not updated their tarrifs page, you would be best to send them [support@o2.ie] an email. Though I bet you you will get a reply asking for you to ring their €1 per min help line

Good point, i think i'll wait til someone here knows, or someone that uses GPRS a lot checks it out, i know i was charged 3c a KB when i was checking some cinema times last week...

internet over gprs is 3c/kb (ie. using pp.internet apn).
wap over gprs is now 1c/kb (ie. using pp.wap.o2.ie apn).
guess they want people to use gprs wap more and move away from dial-up wap (which costs 6c/min offpeak or 19c/min peak).
the speakeasy helpline on 1747 costs 14c per call, irrespective of how long the call is.

hi greg, can you clarify if this new price is for connections to both WAP and Internet access points (re: crowbar's post above), not just WAP only?

    thanks,

Looks like I may start using this then, i'll have to try getting online with my laptop that way now.
1c a KB is expensive for web browsing, but its better than nothing.
