I have had nothing but grief from Eircom. I phone have phoned 4 time and each time they have no record of my line being tested. I’m first told I’m not on a carrier system and then I find out the Knockboy exchange is a “baby” exchange of the Waterford exchange and therefore IS a carrier line and couldn’t be upgraded. This was the last straw so I emailed head of complaints in Eircom smalone@eircom.ie. The letter I received answered none of my questions. It looked like a general letter they send out to anyone.
That night I went to the Comreg web site and sent a complaint with the letter I sent and a scanned copy I received from Eircom attached. Sent emails with the letters attached to the Communications (Development) Division of the government, Communications (Regulatory Affairs) Division of the Government, John Deasy TD john.deasy@oireachtas.irlgov.ie, Martin Cullen Minister of the Environment minister@environ.irlgov.ie along with other TD’s etc. Comreg got back to me in a few days saying that they had contacted Eircom and they were to to phone me. I spoke with Eircom today and they are sending out a technician to check the line.
I seem to be getting a few more answers now, one is they can’t tell why a line fails because they don’t have the equipment yet and hopefully they should have next year.
Try writing to Eircom save copies and use them when getting in touch with Comreg, etc.
