To move to DSL - I was forced to downgrade from ISDN ('High Speed')

Just found out I was charged 99 euros by Eircom for moving from High Speed to Standard line (84+vat).
I was also charged for ISDN for an adtional 2 months as it wasnt disconnected until 6 days into the 2 month billing period.

This is on top of the 99 to go from standard line to dsl.

I didnt go with the IStream product.

I was led to believe by the DSL providor that it would cost 15 euros for the changeover High Speed to POTS and a free reverse to ISDN if the line failed the check.

Has anyone else been charged this much?

    ozmo.

long story - signed up for UTV(June 26). They couldnt get it working on my exchange - so after a couple months of phone calls - I tried Netsource - they were luckier and eircom didnt mess up this time and it installed ok (September 4th).

I think its all this messing around that they have charged me to the hilt. They are saying they had to set up a new line - hence the 99 euro charge. I'm not going to take this lightly though.

Blanchardstown Exchange - I'm about half a km away. New estate so all cables should have been good.

That's a crazy price for that.. I live in Blanchardstown too (Clonsilla) and was only charged €24.99
Definetly don't take it lightly especially after what Practical said

Got the exact same thing a few months back..The lady was very insistant that the price was 130 until I made a big issue of it. She then went off and checked the price coming back with the figure of 20.

You have to be sure of yourself when your on to this crowd! It's a sham...

    Ozmo,

Did your ISDN line pass the pre-qual test with eircom?

What reason where you given for the required change of line?

    Thanks,

    Grayarea.

Yup - passed all checks. They installed it all and informed utv it dsl was installed and operational. But there was no line sync at my end - ie. no dsl signal. After a few weeks of trying - UTV were very good and realased me from my 12 month contract so I could try with someone else. But it took 3 weeks to get disconnected so I could try another providor. Netsource had it in in 8 days and it worked first time- with exactly the same setup, modem, filters etc at my end.
I never knew they were setting up a new line(my number didnt change), and didnt ask for one - Only found yesterday when I saw the 99 euro charge. I'll let you know what happens.
Oh and they charged me for ISDN for two months when I didnt have it.

    Wahey - Sorted :)

I rang four times and mentioned others only paid 20 to 25 euros.

Replies from 4 different operators were:
    1. "Cost is 99 and thats definite"
    2. "Cost is 130 and thats definite"
    2. "I Dont know I'll get someone to call you back."
    3. "Opps you have been charged 105 too much - I'll just
    credit your account now... done."

Thanks for the price check guys - Happy now :)

-its all bit scary really .....
