Can anyone who has sky + tell me if they broadcast sky movies in Dolby Digital? Has anyone taken advantage with a surround sound setup?

They have removed dolby digital from the Box office channels
It's now only available on 3 sky premier channels apparently:confused:

This is currently discussed on channell 999 by the lovely Lisa Burke.

I only have the family pack at present, but that will change after october first when Sky plus becomes free with a movie package.

Quite a lot of the movies are now broadcast in Dolby Digital, however as Man says, it is only on the first three Premiere channels. Can't see why the don't do it on all of them?

I think that I saw one or two on Movie Max when the initial changeover happened.

The dolby digital soundtrack does not add all that much extra in terms of space on the disk. Strangely enough, I recorded Bridge on the River Kwai from Net2 last week. Three hours and it used up 21% of the disk. Vanilla Sky (with Dolby Digital) was two hours and it only used 8%. Just goes to show the different bit rates that are being used :).

Becuase the 5.1 is a separate much more expensive than Stereo data stream on Satellite.

They would want to put subs up (or PPV rental). Folks would downgrade and they would lose money so they limit to Premium channels.

    Just a thought..
Hmmm, are the disk usage figures very accurate? Isn't that something getting updated in next SW (esp. on larger disks)?

Gimme a shout if you ever in Limerick direction ShaneOC.
