How long for Eircom to activate my line?

I signed up for the I-stream self install about a month ago, last week I eventually got my modem, splitters etc. No sign of my line being switched on at the exchange, so I rang their support line. 'Between the 15th and 17th' I was told it would be activated, so I wait, again, until today (the 17th). Still no sign of the DSL sync light coming on on the modem, so I ring them, again, and this time I'm told 'It should be activated within a week'. It's now almost 5 weeks since I ordered broadband off them, is this a normal length of time? It took me almost 2 months to get my phone line installed earleir this summer, so I'm not exactly holding my breath, but at this stage I'm thinking of sending the modem back and telling them to go jump.

Typically it can be from 2 days to 20 working days. The self install option is by far the quickest service to get activated.

I ordered it one wednesday, the following monday it was live, no modem had come, no filters nothing :)

Luckily i had a router standing by.

Anyways sales give you an install day, do not call support.

Call sales now, tell them your fúcked off with waiting and you want it done now.

Tried that, but Eircom sales aren't exactly the most helpful bunch in my experience. All they can tell me is that it will take around a week.

Just off the phone with Eircom sales, still no sign of my line being switched on so thought I'd give them another try. This time, they say I'm down to be switched on at the exchange on........ the 24th of Sept, even though they told me last week it would be the 17th. I politely pointed out that this is another week away, but was told there's nothing they can do, and that the engineers are very busy. Turns out they screwed up my order when I placed it, they had me down for an engineer install, but when it was changed to self install, which is what I asked for, they cancelled the original order and started a new one. So, they screw up and I have have to wait until the 24th.
Time to send the modem and splitters back and tell them to shove it.

I was waiting 2 months, lost the rag a few times on the phone with them but no joy, same ****e they gave me, "order screwed up, engineers busy". What was funny was that the last time I rang they said it would be at least another week, but the dsl light came on that night. So they obviously have not got a clue what the engineers schedules are. Don't send it back though, it is well worth it when you finally get activated, even if you have to deal with the monkeys of eircom.

I am waiting 7 weeks for my netsource ac to be set up. My local exchange is Beggars Bush (I'm in d4).

Eircom set up Netsource's lines... and they are completely out of DSL equipment aparently.

    Bloody frustrating

Not sure which exchange I'm on, it's Dublin 7 city centre... Eircom out of DSL equipment? Wouldn't bloody surprise me at this stage. I've decided to hold on the extra week, roll on the 24th and let's see what excuse they give me this time!

Well well well, lo and behold the dsl sync light came on a lovely shade of bright green yesterday afternoon. After one more phone call to support to get my username and password, I'm up and running. :D
