Alot of people have probably heard of Freddy Adu, but for those who haven't. He's American and being playing for the USA Under-18s since he was 13. Pele and Maradona are both fans and he signed a $1M deal with Nike. Well anyway Man Utd, Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid have all been holding talks with him. But apparently hes chosen Chelsea but his agents wanted him to join Man U because of his Nike deal and their growing popularity in the States. What does everyone think of this story? Do you think its true or not?

If he moves to any big club in the premership he'll be in the reserves. He's from Ghana anyway. He is good but its not hard to be good at soccer in America

he is a 14year old kid!!! Doesn't matter who he plays for when you are the most talked about player at a tournement, you must be good .. america will be the next big team .. maybe 10years time or so but they will be big

the ladies football team is dominent at the moment
simply cause it's the sport for young girls ..

the boys are learning too, I think it is becoming a very popular sport for young people .. the older generation just are not interested

I started saying this last year and I was laughed at, but soccer is now the most played sport played in the US by pre-teen boys. And BTW what does it matter that hes only 14, quality can be ebough to get you into the first team, which he undoubtadly has.

I dont think he can legally work before 16 can he :)
He'd be way way too small at 14, maybe at 16.

But god, if he is getting snapped up this early, so much of his development will be done so early, he'll be a beast at age 20.

arsenal signed pennant for 1m when he was 16. turned out to be a pretty poor investment. all the hype and he cant get a game. 3m for a 14 year old is insane. no pressure there or nothing.

best thing to say would be that he was head and shoulders above any player at the recent Under 18 tournament in France..

    and he is 14 :)

We have all seen it before, it he could be the real deal

There was rumours going around that he's not 14 and that his birth cert might be forged.

I dunno £3mil for a kid is pretty steep. Time will tell I suppose.

I don't think Chelsea really care how much he is. After all it is only about 0.05% of Abramavich's wealth.

If anyone has seen film of Adu in action, they can't deny the amazing skill he has, especially at 14. I hope they can hold onto him in America, honestly. I think they will be able to develop him better there, there would be less of a hype machine.
