    Right,

Tha Navan exchange has recently been enable by Eircom so ESAT are now reselling the new product with the faster download speed and more bandwidth allocated.

So as not to bore you i'm just going to paste in the e-mail I sent to the complaints department below. Apparently there are only 30 of us out there with the 256K product. let me know if you have hit the same problem!

    Letter as follows..............................................

    Dear Sir or Madam,

I am Currently a subscriber you’re your old ADSL service with the following specs:

    256K Downstream
    128K Upstream
    4GB Download cap per month
    €60.00 Per month

When the press first released that Eircom would be providing wholesale ADSL product for ESAT to resell I contacted your customer care department and was informed that I would be transferred over to the new system. The Navan exchange was enabled by Eircom last weekend as such ESAT are now providing the following service to residential customers:

    512K Downstream
    128K Upstream
    5GB Download cap per month
    €50.00 Per month

Due to this I contacted your sales department to enquire when my account would be upgraded. I have since been informed that due to me signing a twelve month contract I am not eligible for the new and significantly superior product until my contract expires (seven months from now).

I have been an ESAT customer for some time now ranging back to the Net Smart product over 56K modem. I believe this reaction is an insult to me as a consumer. I will be investigating any way to terminate my contract with ESAT BT over this matter unless there is a way I can be upgraded to the new product which I personally don't see a problem in completing!

As you can see I have CC'd this to COMREG so they are aware of the goings on. I will also be placing a notice of the proceedings on http://www.boards.ie to ensure the 30 people that have the old product are aware of the brick wall they will run in to when attempting to upgrade.

I would appreciate a response to this as soon as available. I can be contacted on **********.

    Yours sincerely

I thought Eircon was bad, or just big, until I hit Esat. Dont bother with their Adsl either, it works "sometimes", and they dont care, they say they'll fix it "sometime"

    Still Disconnected
    (after 5 Days)

Who did you email that to? Generally when people mail Bill Murphy they get results quickly.

The 256k product is superior if you are a gamer, I'd stay on it if I were you.

    Right Chaps,

I received a call from COMREG this morning.

They would appear to agree with my case as they have logged an official complaint with ESAT who are apparently obliged to respond!

Thus, I await a response from one or both!

I'll keep you updated when they reply!

    Hopefully this will sort it!
