Anyone know a Good online tutorial for the basics of max?

  • Registered Users Posts: 897 ✭✭✭Greenbean

To be honest Little, theres fup all out there - its scattered all over the place. Try Paul Steeds tutorials on loonygames.com for low poly stuff and 3dcafe.com for links to other peoples high/low poly tutorials.

Keep an eye on gamesart.com, Freak_Bruther and meself hope to remedy this awful lack of decent tutorials.

    Yes indeed 3dsmax 0wns biggrin.gif
go to www.3dcafe.com there's some good tutoriorals there plus some links to other max sites.
I'd advise any 1 starting off in max not to go for a "big space epic" for there first project,
Thiz a big mother fupper of a programme, start off small, get da basics, and werk ur way from there.

I have three Big HUGE manuals, its not easy to learn without a manual or some one to show you. Sorry let me correct myself, its not easy to learn fully, ie all the functions etc.

Thats nice, Monty, but you're not really "turning out" anything but other peoples hard work.

If you want to see some real nice CG art, go to this mans website:

first of all I credit those who's models I've used and second it takes alot more than a few minutes work to make something like that....

    and use instead of [link]

I dont think so, infact the phrase "a few minutes tinkering" seems to cover it nicely.

a few minutes!!! TRY 5 hours, mainly because I added the fog, explosion and the general lighting after I had finished with MAX....

    You are joking.

That makes it even worse. If you did all that in Max I'd say something, but I could do that in PS in about 43 seconds.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,335 ✭✭✭Cake Fiend

And you can animate that, yeah?

I question the relevance of that remark.

And I question the relevance of that retort.

I am closing this topic before I say something I will regret.
