I was looking through an old copy of the RTE guide last night (in my attic) and I came across a listing for MTV USA - one of my favourite 80's programmes.

It used to be on RTE on Sunday's from 3pm to 5.55pm.

Any chance that RTE could show some re-runs ?

I remember MT U.S.A. (i think it was called that in deference to MTV, actually. Correct me if I'm wrong) very well. Remember the real cheesey 1980's almost "bad radio-style jingle" intro music?

DEE DEE DEEEEEEEEEE........ Music Television U.S.A........... DAAA DA DA DAAA DAAAAAAAAA....... Vincent Hanley

I can still remember it to this day. Sad, really! :D

Your correct ..... it was MT USA.

It would be great to see it again, even one programme.

Correct me if I'm wrong, someone, but isn't there an episode of "Reeling In The Years" where there's a very quick clip of Vincent Hanley introducing MT USA? I'm nearly sure when they re-ran that a few weeks back I saw a very quick clip of him. Or was I just imagining things again? :D

You're right, Silvera, it would be great to see even just one episode of MT USA again, just to re-live Sunday afternoons in front of the telly watching all the cool (well, we thought they were at the time though most of them probably look pretty crap and cheesey nowadays! :D) music videos of the time. I doubt it'll happen, though. Not when RTE would much prefer to use up the available airtime with crap like "Celebrity Farm"!

MT USA drove my dad from the front room regular as clockwork!
I watched it usually, but in truth there was hardly a decent tune on it and I was glad when the end credits ran.
