Help Ordering Sky

I know this is in the news group somewhere but multiple searches (Incl. FAQ) did not find the phone number for ordering sky. Its disgraceful that sky do not have a ROI section on the web site - or am I wrong about that?

I am looking for the direct number for Sky - I want to see if the €15 installation is still going.

Anyone any suggestions how I can guarantee getting the panasonic box (as this group seems to recommend)?

Any other suggestions or warnings - I am in the North Kildare Area ?

    Thanks,
    J

Thanks shane. I did try Tony first, he does not cover my area :(

€25 is still not bad - anyone got the number then?

The elton john track has finally got to me... I am ready!

    What area are you?
Are you outside ROI? we cover all of ROI however we can no longer offer the discounted installation as Sky have still to pay for installs going back to last Christmas.

Hope you get what you need.

    Thanks all.
Rang the 1800 above and got the €25 install with Sky World.
At last, no more fuzzy RTE and TV3, TG4 with rubbish programes.

I should clarify and say that Tony was extremly helpful and provided me with the details to organise an install in my area (via a sub-contractor) - however I opted to go direct - I must be just looking for trouble.

going direct with sky i think gets you a sierra installer . have heard bad experiences of them wont do much for you if they can ie if you need it through your attic etc they will quote you the contract and charge you extra dosh for doing so whereas an independent guy would be a little more flexible.

It must depend on the individual installer as I've heard good stories about Sierra and how they can be helpful and do a decent tidy job.
I hope that's the case anyway as I've gone direct with SKy also.

The experiences of both my neighbours confirms what JIP says. One Neighbour ordered off a local installer and was charged "extras" for what has been described as a standard installation on this forum.

However, the second Neighbour who ordered direct from Sky got the very same installation with the dish in the same location and same distance between digibox and existing phone connection with no extra costs.

So I would have to agree with JIP, that it does depend on the actual contractor and not necessarly the company. If the contractor is a bit of a chancer it doesnt matter who he works for. At least with going Sky direct you could complain to them - not that they will listen!

Not sure who the offical sky local contractor is...might find out on Friday. Will let you know how the install goes.
