soft studios and soft synths

    hey just wondering if anyone can suggest some decent, preferably free, software for recording music. i used to be very happ with pro tools free but i just got windows 2000 and its incompatible with it if anyone could suggest something like it thats free itd be very happy. also if anyone can suggest decent free drum machines and soft synths id be very grateful

    Computer Music magazine gives way Muzys on it's cover CD (Or at least did until a few months back), along with free samples and some synths. For free synths (and not, it has pretty much everything) check out the links at www.kvr-vst.com, I recommend Crystal, Triangle2 and Synth-1.

    Free sequencers and synths? Outrageous! :D (I've yet to buy one myself!)

    Get yourself a copy of CM as creed recomends. I dont use Muzys myself but it'll do the job.

    What sort of music do you create?

    thanks lads, i make a bit of everything trying to do something a bit different wanna try a kinda hybrid rock folky electro kinda thing maybe a super furry animals/flaming lips kinda thing but prolly little more chilled out kind of air/leftfield/lemon jelly kinda sound
