Everyone has a different story after their become CISSP.
Some have the necessary experience in the security job market and then after becoming a CISSP move onto a better job with either better career opps or better money.

Just getting CISSP on it's on won't get you more money.

Best of luck with the exam. Bring lots of water/lucosade?

Apologies for going slightly off-topic, but how strict are they regarding the four years' security industry experience? I have been working as a sysadmin for donkey's years, but couldn't claim that the majority of work is security related. Are they lenient as long as security is a vital part of the roles you've worked in?

I sat the CISSP exam at COSAC last year. Its pretty difficult as these things go....I found many of the questions to be rather vauge but overal it was not unreasonable.

I passed it but the issuing of my cert was delayed as I was selected for auditing and had to provide proof of my credentials.
So. I'd say they are fairly vigilant on the entry requirements.

    Hi Bogobot,

I presume for the audit one produces a list of referals who can vouch for your work experience to use as proof of ones credentials?

Any details on what you had to supply would be great ..

Been vigilant on entry requirements is a good thing...

Essentially, I was asked for my CV. Details of what I had been up to for the last three years (only three required when I sat it).
I also had to supply references to vouch for that experience.

Good luck with it if you choose to pursue it...I've found it to be beneficial.
