I've recently been thinking about taking a month or two off this Summer to go on a pilgrimage. I've never done anything like this before, however after talking to a cousin about it I can't seem to get the idea out of my mind. Ideally I'd like to cycle most of the journey, taking the ferry from Dubrovnik to Bari and then cycle on to Rome or go vice-versa. The only thing is I have no clue how to go about organising this. Has anyone got any idea what such a trip would cost and how I plan it out? Bear in mind, I'm not exactly sure where would be the best place to go. I'd love to visit the Holy Land but that would be a wee bit difficult given the current climate. I'd appreciate anything anyone could tell me, thanks :)

This is a popular one and one I might take myself one day.

Looks interesting, it'd certainly be a wee bit expensive to travel around France surely though?

Shouldn't be that expensive. There are plenty of basic accommodation along the route, food is reasonable in France and Spain and you'll be walking, so how expensive could that be?

Stupid question BUT, when is France or Spain between Medj... and Rome?

I heard there's direct flights to Dubrovnik (charters). Obvoiusly Rome has flights to it. I'm sure there's also tours that organise similar things. There's definitely bus tours to Medj... from Dubrovnik as when I was there (Dubrovnik) there were loads of older religious types talking about all things religious.

If you intend bringing the bicycle with you then I dunno. Although i'm sure you could hire a bicycle and drop it elsewhere if you find the right company.

Imp: I've just been running the idea through my head at the moment, I'm not even sure where I want to go. One thing I do know is that I don't want to go as part of a tour group. It would be me, and me alone on a mystical voyage of self-discovery :P Thanks for the info though :)

Yeah Imposter can't you see that this guy wants to 'walk the earth' like yourman in 'Kungfu' or that other fella in 'Pulp Fiction'.
