can u open these in windows?

Because every time ive tried to extract them with winzip or winace theyve thrown up some corruption error. Is it a case that u just rename to file to .zip or .exe like u do with .dat/.class files?

gzip is GNU zip isn't it? The latest version of winzip should open it without any hassles (providing you don't change the extentsion).

try renaming it to .tar.gz, then winzip should be fine with it, if it doesn`t already..

.tar.gz are linux files, mostly for slackware, but is the general format for more linux files to be downloadable in...

why are you trying to download linux files??
