    Dont post to this thread unless it is a meaningful tip. (ie no discussion or " smile.gif" replies ta)

    Myself and Regi are collating these and more into a site which should be up and running Real Soon Now. We'll gather all the best stuff from the net to a local server.
    btw please read the "nethouse" post as its important.

    Remember, tips only please.
    eg:
    r_lodbias 2 gives a few extra fps.

    do this - Some cool things to try to get the crosshair into Q3 smile.gif.

    1) Install q3test as normal.

    2) Rename the "demoq3" folder to "baseq3".

    3) Open the pak0.pk3 file using WinZip.

    4) Extract the contents of that file with "Use Folder Names" checked, into the "baseq3" directory.

    5) Delete the pak0.pk3.

    6) Replace any file now in your baseq3 folder with whatever you like... crosshairs, sound effects... whatever (try my crosshair... works great!).

    7) Add ADDITIONAL files like .cfg files that can now be executed using the exec command from the console, or new skins like Novus's Polychrome Skin Pak.

    8) Drop google a line saying thanks for coming up with the process, and check out his Clan's website at this address.

    Head over here for the crosshair.

    here = www.planetquake.com/ra2io

    you need to do that to run demos
    the hint is this demo of another way to quad on q3test2.bsp by means of a rocketjump
    members.tripod.com/~Ch33z/quadway.dm3
    hope it helps
    oh another demo is the same url and quadjump.dm3 instead of quadway

    If you'd like a more Q2 style railgun effect ...

    //
    // Railgun Settings
    //
    set cg_railTrailTime "1200"
    set r_railWidth "32"
    set r_railCoreWidth "4"
    set r_railSegmentLength "16"
    //

    Thats straight outta my config smile.gif

    Well if your like me and you don't like the default crosshair try this...

    cg_drawcrosshair 2
    crosshairsize 3

    It gives you a dot instead of the standard crosshair. I find it easier to use.

    Ok after I read Cheez's post I was playin around with Winzip and Pak3.pk3

    On of the major *****es goin around was the rocket trails fire off 2 roxs in a fight and you can't see a thing. Heres how I got rid of em.

    Use Winzip to broswe the pak file.

    find smokepuff.tga and smokepuff2.tga, extract em (using the full folder names into your baseq3 folder)

    Use photoshop to paint the last layer (4) on each of these TGA's to total black.

    Delete the originals from the pak (make sure you back it up just in case smile.gif)

    hey presto no more rocket trails.
