    I see a usage calculator on this web page, it asks to download some macromedia file?

    http://home.iol.ie/broadband/uc.htm

    Is this some program that goes on your desktop to monitor usage, or am i just completely stupid?

    It's most likely a flash plugin for your browser.

    {edit}the page will show how much you have downloaded and will not put anything on your desktop{/edit}

    :( damn! ...i was hoping Esat had a small file that you could just click on to see usage anytime you wanted.
    The calculator is OK, but only updated once a day...i'd like real time usage monitoring.

    There's a thread a few pages back where you'll find a whole bunch of free bandwidth meters.
    Dumeter is one of the best in my opinion.

    Regarding the IOL usage calculator, download the flash plug-in, coz you'll need to check what stats they have on you every once in a while. Its good track-keeping. Just remember, when loggin in, drop the @iolbb from your username.
