It has male volcals and the chorus lyrics go along the lines of 'Something in my eye, just shines on' x 3 'Did you even try, did you even try-eye?.' I've a feeling it's from around 1998 and I've tried googling it already but to no avail

Yeah, that was Something In My Eye from a Roscommon band called The Marbles. Not sure if they're still around actually.
