There was this cool game I had as a kid, it was kind of like air hockey but in a little black board (was supposed to look like space) the ball was a metal spinningtop that was accelerated to a dangerous speed by means of a geered crank handle before being launched onto the board at the press of a button. the puk would whizz around the board and you had to move there little red sliders left and right to knock it away from your goal. It was really cool if a little dangerous, if your fingers got hit by this thing at full whatk it was pretty sore.

Does anyone know waht the game was called? I'm told it might have been called space-something. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

It sounds a bit like crossfire.

You had to shoot little metal balls from your gun at a larger metal ball (surrounded by a platic ring - see the bottom of the board in the pic) and first to get a goal won.

    Great game!!! :)

nah, I thought that was it too when someone mentioned it to me, crossfire came afterwards, it was a very simular game though.

ok, just remembered, it was called astro..... astro-something

I've added a sketch of the game here, it's a bit simple but it's the best I can do with paint...

Had the potential to hurt fingers if I recall correctly

HAHAHAHA!!!! that's it! that's been werckin my head bigstyle for ages! I'm hoping to build one the size of a snooker table, the metal spinning top will be the size of a hockey puck and be spun by an electric motor.

yeah, it was quite sore when that thing hit my fragile 6 year old fingers, emagine what a giant super charged version would do! YEAH!
