    Most alarms sold in Ireland are not Thatcham approved. The jury seems to be out on whether it's worth getting one. Insurance companies couldn't care less here.

    Make sure you use a proper relay to cut the fuel pump power, as it's high amp normally. A supposedly professional alarm installer didn't do that on my car and apart from frying the alarm it caused erratic fuel delivery at WOT, something you do not want.

    thanks for the info, just wondering how easy they are to hook up to the central locking system, i realise you need add on parts but once you get them, is installation straight forward?
