Eircom Line Tests...

My exchange (Bandon, Cork) got upgraded about seven or eight weeks ago, and to cut a long story short I got around to trying to order Eircom RADSL the Wednesday before last (27th of September). They couldn't get any test result on my line, so they had to send it off to get tested at the exchange or whatever. Now they told me it could take one to two weeks, is this normal? I know tonnes of people who have gotten DSL recently (none on my exchange though) and line testing hasn't taken even half this length of time for any of them. I'm constantly asked when I'm on the phone to Eircom if it's a "new line" and stuff, so does it have something to do with the exchange being relatively newly upgraded or is there something else up? Obviously I'm still waiting, and although it hasn't been two weeks yet I'm getting a little anxious :)

When I first rang up eircom for a line test I was told that it would take up to a month so I rang netsource and they did the test within 24hours.
If netsource are in your area apply for a line test with them, when the result gets back it goes onto the eircom database and you're ready to R0CK

I was told when I was waiting for a line test, I could be waiting 3 weeks. So Eircom told me I would have to wait and they would call me back when they had an answer. That was on Tuesday. So for giggles, i called them up again and asked I would like to get my line tested. 2 minutes later they said I had qualified. For closure I went to the eircom site and typed in my number and yes it worked.

So Keep plugging away at the bastar!s. They lie, they couldn't give a fuc!k and they wont ring you back. Keep trying.

And if you are any way pushed get satellite. Power to the people.

I've been plugging away as much as I can - I've rung them once every weekday for the past week. When I called on Monday I did what you did XPThink - acted as if that was my first call to them (I called them first the previous Wednesday, was told it would take 48 hours and then told it would take two weeks when I rang back on Friday) and was told they'd have a result by the end of the week. Needless to say they didn't.

What really bugs me is the fact that they give me these solid dates (48 hours, end of the week etc) and when I ring back they're like "Oh don't worry we'll ring you back as soon as we get a result".

I totally agree LittleTinyMan. You have to keep ringing them up. It's annoying but they will never ever ring you up. I know when my line became active it became active online also and I can check the exchange online.

If you are serious about BB and don't want to stick with Eircom go for wireless or satellite.

    Power to you......

F*cking MUPPETS. Rang them again today, was told three working days for a line test. Really pushed the issue with them saying it was unacceptable how long I'd had to wait and I was losing time and money because of their incompetence, but I'm stuck with a figure now of three working days, which in the words of the Eircom employee herself isn't even a garaunteed figure. Shambolic.

    That is lousy.

My story was that I recently got the phone line reconnected. So I was told I had to wait four days for the account to go through. Fair enough. That was on a Friday. I rang them on Tuesday and was told by customer services that my account was fine and I was transferred over to DSL line testing. The guys computer at the other end said my account had still not gone through and I could be waiting 3 weeks for a test etc. They would "ring" me back to tell me when It was ready.

I rang the next day and lo and behold the line was fine everything was cool and I could order DSL. I think there is one guy for DSL checking cos I recognised his voice and told him I rang him yesterday, Stephen was his name, and he said I had to wait 3 weeks, and now he tells me everything is ok. Could he explain this......line went silent...then he blamed communication etc and departments.....I mean its not his fault, it is Eircoms.

They have a serious communication problem within their company and It seems information goes missing or isn't updated on a regular basis. For our national communication company this is a joke.......I heard they made a profit yesterday in the news to...

One cannot blame the poor sod at the end of the phone who is doing their job. It is the company and it's policy and management. The company is obviously not run well enough.

Its not nice Tinyman...Have you looked at Digiweb?
