Was wondering whether to put this into TV or film but decided on "all things retro"

Anyone remember "Dune" the film or "Dune" the tv series? I was thinking of getting the dvd of one or the other off play.com and was wondering which is better (they're both cheap enough)? Would save me reading the book (I like reading but I've a BIG reading list to get through, without adding the epics that are the dune novels).

I never realised there was a tv series and I would rate the film as only average - probably less then average if you have not read the books.

    The books are fantastic....
Don't think thats helped you any but maybe try see what reviews they get in amazon or somewhere like that.

that most of that film was edited out - was way longer ...

Liked the whole style thing - quite machavelllian - like the characters...

And Mr Lucas of course ripped it off big time...

Thought the film with sting and paddy stewart was pretty good, There were 3 films made in the late 90s, they went straight to video. I thought they were a bit over the top with the editing when it came to repetitive themes ('face on mars on the desert' style hullusinations etc.) I'd stick with the original.

the 1984 version was excellent. love that film. the spaceships have wooden interiors, and everything is really stylish. the film rocks!

The TV series is actually pretty good. I enjoyed it anyway.
