Yeah its possible, you can find out about it on the main knoppix site. www.knoppix.net

Although its not recommended, if you want to install a linux distro close to knoppix then install debian. Its virtually the same except you install it.

Knoppix comes with an install program called knx-hdinstall.

There is a menu item on the desktop to install to disk,
but don't use it unless you want a German installation.

Launch knoppix with any options you usually use,
    such as lang=uk

Hold down [CTRL] and [ALT] and press F1 to get to the first console.
Press return and you should have an active root prompt.

Type in knx-hdinstall and follow the instructions.
It includes the opportunity to repartition and format your drives.

Once you're done, you have a fully set up Debian system which you can keep up to date with apt. Worth trying.

    p.s. I think it's knx-hdinstall.
If that doesn't work, just type knx- and hit [TAB] a few times. it'll be obvious enough which one it is!

Err, don't install the Deutsch version.

I'm thinking the ILUG has an bootable version of Knoppix... 3.6 (I think), which is decidedly not Deutsch.

All Knoppixen I've seen are in German if you don't tell them not to be. It's just a default setting. Don't go downloading another copy.

German not required, but a bug in the desktop menu icon
version of the script ignores your language settings and
makes it all go de shaped.
The command line script works fine, you'll need at least 2.3G of disk space.

Take a look at Morphix before you do, another of the knoppix family, but much more modular and includes a nice install program
