For anyone that needs a bit of a larf; here ya go. Been looking for a nice pair of sunglasses for ages to wear on my bike. Ya know, the ones that dont let any air in so your eyeballs dont dry out? Well I found em in Feb on a trip to San Francisco; Panoptx Cyclone. Cost me $160 too. About a half hour ago, after filling up my bike at Esso in Douglas, I went to put the things back on and one of the arms broke off. Ohh dear, I seem to have just broken the most expensive and best pair of sunglasses Ive ever owned. Now to rush home and search frantically for the reciept so I can send the dismembered corpse back to California in the hope that the warranty holds true. Overall... a bad thing to happen. I feel quite ill, wheres the nearest pub?

Sorry to hear that :( I hate when things like that happens , hopefully you can get them fixed / replaced without much problem . You have the reciept and a copy of the warranty right ? That should be all you need. Let us know how it goes :)

Is there anywhere you can get an old pair of sunglasses repaired? Should be a fairly easy job, they've plastic frame so it would be just case of melting the plastic, but don't want to **** it up by doing it myself.

Any good opticians will have the facility to repair them. AS for Pubs, your in Ireland. Its a scary thought there may not be one in sight.

build a house in the middle of nowhere and wait for a pub to spring up beside you :)

There apparently still is a small town in Ireland that doesnt have a pub.

There is a town (might be the same one) on the way to Macroom, cant remember the name of the place now, but they only got a pub in the last few months. There was one open down there before but it was closed for ages.

As for the sunglasses.. its either an excuse to go back to California or I'll just whine and bitch at panoptx until they agree to replace them. Now wheres that reciept?

Foul Heretical Lier! The concept of an Irish village without a pub is like, like um... breathing without air! There would a distortion of space time around the annomally, its against all the laws of nature and man. A vacum in which terrible things would take shape and form. A unholy un-natural abomination, a pox, a curse, how do they live without it??? What manner of witch craft deprived them?

    Argggghhh, run for the hills!!!

(You know after all that, I'm actually not a pub person, hun!)

I know exactly how ya feel.

Had a pair of Ray Bans, and they were a prefect fit, very light and
comfortable to wear. Anyway, was in Canada last oct and saw
his lovely pair of Oakleys for a fraction of what you would pay
over here, but they were still nearly €200 and I couldnt justify the
cost so i said id leave them as I had the other pair..

When I was flying home, I opened my rucksack and threw in a
bottle of water thinking nothing more about it, until I opened my
bag when I got home and there were my lovely Ray Bans in bits...

*sniff* I miss them so and really pissed off that i didnt buy the
other pair of Oakleys.. so now Im still sunglassless :(:(

Foxrock village is one of the few in Ireland without a pub

As for the sunglasses, I feel your pain... I watched a pair of oakleys sink a few months ago after pitch-poling a catamaran in a Force 7 gale.... Second most expensive thing I've lost/broken... The first being my digital camera which was smashed a few weeks ago... It hasn't been a cheap few months..

Bridgetown in Co Donegal also no longer has a pub! Mind you, it no longer has a shop either!

I think they should change the name to just Bridge as there's obviously no "town" :D
