The girlfiends house has a dish mounted on the back wall pointing S\SW. Been there since the last owner moved out. Its wired into the sitting room. I think it was for Sky digital, not sure.

Never thought much about it at all cause ye forget all about it until you look at the back wall of the house from the garden.
What would i need to get it up ad running with Astra (or other) and how would i align it? How much are decoders etc?

If it is a mesh dish less than 70cm it is for Sky Digital.

The dish needs an LNB on it (cable connects to this which is on end of arm in front of dish). Unusual to leave an LNB behind.

The LNB is part of the receiver. The other half is the box at the TV. Only part of it (and only if for Pay TV) is a "decoder". Most of it is a kind of wireless modem and MPEG2 to Analog TV convertor.

Any digital receiver connected will give lots of free channels inc BBC and 55+ radio. Not all of the 80 odd free channels are junk.

The dish only needs moved if it was shifted by wind or you want a different satellite, which is a bit harder on Digital than on Analog.

www.lyngsat.com and check 13E, 19E, 28E for main "free" or Clear channels available. With a 90cm dish many satellites between 45E and 55W are available.
