As the subject says, can I use my eircom mail a/c through Netsource? I imported the setttings from my old PC and I can receive mail fine but it doesn't seem like I can send anything using the mail a/c. Is this something done by the ISP or is there some setting I may have wrong?

    I'm not sure about netsource.
But i'm able to use my eircom account on iolbb.
I didn't think i'd be able to, but i was pleasantly surprised.
I didn't have to make any changes to eudora, it just worked.

While I don't have an Eircom email account, I do have Esat/IOL email accounts, and yes I can send emails from these accounts using Netsource.

You just need to change your SMTP server (Outgoing email server) to mail.netsource.ie

Give it a try, it may or may not work.

It does work, that is what I am doing here with my old eircom account.

Like qweryup I use my old eircom account to send and receive. The send the odd time barfs (destination not in host file), I just have to check mail again and then send.

You can use an Eircom mail account on any ISP without changing the settings. You just need to pop (check) your mail before you send, otherwise you'll get relay errors like dazberry mentioned.

Anytime I've tried to send an email using my Eircom a/c while connected to either NTL or Netsource (so well over a year now) I get the following error:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

    Subject: test
    Sent: 03/09/2003 08:28

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'TARGET EMAIL ADDRESS' on 03/09/2003 08:28
553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)

Did you pop first? I dial into IOL at home and I use my Eircom mail account no problem.

some e-mail servers are set to only accept e-mails coming fro certain computers. either checked by the IP for people with static IP, or username, or some method i don;t know of. This is a security measure.

All i know is my old esatclear e-mail addy and ntl addy still work on my IBB account. :D
