    if someone is leaking nearby you lucky thing .,.

    ============================================

    Unless you have thin walls having antennas extenrally is better - but there is nothing stopping you using an external antenna inside a house except the astethics.

    B&Q do some cheap and chearful yagi's to try out..

    you can also get those flat ones about one foot by two feet - metal grid (used to reduce ghosts - can't remember what they call them) but they might look better inside

    the cheapo rabbits ears and "built in amplifier" ones are to be avoided unless you live in a very strong signal area..

    Best thing is to borrow one to try it out or ask the neighbours what they use.

    Indoor aerials don't work much better than a foot of wire hanging out of the aerial socket.

    Unless you can see the Transmitter (and even then maybe not) you will get a poor picture.

    Use an outdoor aerial. You might be able to attach it outsidse at head hieght without ladder to roof if not blocked by a neighbour's house. Get the right colour end cap for your area. The flat WB aerials are not usually as good, but will work on top of a cupboard or bookcase in Living room.

    The amplified aerials are the worst. If it needs amplified, then you ABSOLUTELY need a pole on the chimney.
