dont know weather many people know who Rory Gallagher is in short hes one of the most underrated guitarists in the world. i discovered him through a friend of mine and i think hes absolutely brilliant.

most people should know who Jimmi Hendrix is i dont think i need to explain how unbelievable a guitarist and songwriter he is.

now the thing is im a mental Jimmi Hendrix fan and TBH i dont think Rory has a pick on Jimmi. but my bud says Jimmi isnt half as good as Rory so just wondering if anyone has any opinion on the matter cause one of us has to be wrong or both of us right

Who is better Jimmi or Rory? 10 votes

Rory rocks honest to god, I cant hold a candle to the man.
But I love Jimi as much,if not a tad more,Il delve into my albums during the week and decide for sure..but I dont see Rory having a Little Wing. Im a huge Jimi fan when the **** hits it ;)

    No no no nooooo!

It's Rory G for me. The man is a legend amongst legends. And I'm not saying it outta any patriotic nationalist "coz he was Irish" crap, I just much prefer his style. For a start, Rory blows Jimi away on slide (acoustic or electric). Just listen to Bullfrog Blues and As The Crow Flies. Rory stuck more to the blues, which is probably why I like him more. Not saying Jimi wasn't blues based or couldn't jam with the best of them, but Rory kept much more of the blues tradition in his songs.

Yeah, so Jimi could make cool sounds outta feedback and a Wah pedal. Big deal. He could play behind his back, behind his head, every which way you could imagaine. So what. Gimmicks. Rory just had to plug straight into an amp and he was away, no screwin around. And he didn't need no acid to pick the notes from his head either. Not that there's anything wrong with gettin outta your head...but Rory was just pure talent.

And hey, his Strat looked better than ANYTHING Jimi ever played!

So for me it's Rory. Think that's 2-1 to Jimi, yeah?

    Come on the Rory fans...

But hey, why argue. Just think of the jam that's goin down between John Bonham, Phil Lynott, Rory G and Jimi in rock heaven. Yeah...

Eh nicer than the start Jimi hand painted for Montery ?
And he wasnt just about 'noises' and feedback, and playing behind the back of his head. Thats being charismatic on stage,Rory did the same maybe just more subtly.

Electric Lady land is one of the finest albums ever made, Jimi to me is like a Motzart of guitar, and production. He was a perfectionist with his sound and style.

Jimi didnt necessarily concentrate on slide, and he's a fantastic acoustic player, listen to Hear my train coming. Thats about the only acoustic song he ever recorded,so I dont know where your getting this 'Rorys far better on acoustic ' stuff.

This is personal preference, not whos better . Its like that Strat versus Les Paul thread, and look at what that heap of **** deteririated into.

My take on this is : If they are both up with the Great God of Rock N Roll in the sky,id bet my ass they are calaborating on an album right now. Apprectitating each other for what they are, what they did, and what they brought to other musicians, not having a ****ing pissing contest.

"Just think of the jam that's goin down between John Bonham, Phil Lynott, Rory G and Jimi in rock heaven. Yeah..." : Just noticed that ;)

Jimi Page????, er I think we're talking Hendrix here.

Although I'm a HUGE RG fan and he was a better 'bluesman' all-round than Hendrix, Jimi was a better guitarist.
jimi could just make the guitar do whatever he wanted without any effort at all. It just did as he asked.
