No, i'd wait, there are goona be real 3g phones soon!!!
Nokia 6600 is a good phone to keep an eye out for, unless you must have the music and stuff. maybe you should get the n-gage.
What exactly are you looking for in a phone?

Yeah but 3G is pretty crap, the quality of the video is really bad.

Im looking for internet and multimedia like video playback, application software ect..
All this is in the Nokia 3650.

Check out the Nokia 6600, you can put an mmc card in for some large memory! Its not as big as the 3650 either

Yeah you can in 3650 as well.

Well 3650 is a full pda as well which is why its big, its not a mobile phone as such.

if you want one now then go for it - finally arrived with vodafone so you can at least get a subsidy (still waiting for O2 to release it) - or the P800 might be an option depending on it's subsidiesd price if/when released

if you want/can wait a while then look at the Siemens SX1 or Nokia 6600 - better screens at least - or the SonyEricsson P810/P900 for a more PDA oriented device

If you like the functionality of the N3650, then I would second Dub's recommendation of the SE 810/900. It's well worth the wait.

Anyone know when the 6600 is going to be released in the Republic (the nokia website says the fourth quarter of this year), and any idea on the cost for an upgrade?? Looks like a damn tasty phone.

I've had a 3650 for the last month and a half, it's truly a great phone. I have a 128mb mmc in it so i have about 30 applications installed and a few music video's and the quality is quite good. The phone is a bit buggy but future software updates will solve that out. I got mine from Ebay for 265Eur brand new. Every time i take the phone outta my pocket people comment on how cool it is. You can also stream video's and radio via realOne player.

I have mine a week now, has the latest FirmWare (3.16 i think) on it, its a flyer. The video is good, the photos are grand too. The phone has no limits once you put in a bigger MMC. People are ripping movies to be watched on it, which is cool, although i doubt id find myself watching a full film on it. The screen is good, the battery life is good too. Some of the games you can get for it are excellent, MotoGP, Dopewars and Splinter Cell are the ones i play on it when im bored.

The keypad is a pain at first, but i've sent about €25 worth of texts on it since i got it, and im used to it.

I was worried about the size, but its nothing. About 1/2 inch bigger then a 3410, a tiny bit fatter, but lighter. Fits in the pocket no hassle.

The only fault i see in it, is it the unprotected camera lens. gotta be cautious not to put it in the pocket with keys or anything like that.

Im gettin the 3650 or the GX20.
    Just not sure which, yet.

The camera lens is not covered?
    Potential serious damage there.

the camera isn't covered in the sharp either... same situation on many camera phones - few handsets have a camera 'cover' facility like that designed into the 7650

i don't usualy go off topic on posts, but i have to say i find the current image in your signature extremely distasteful

Got this phone last week after loosing my 7650 - thank god for insurance. Vodafone ain't doin 7650's any more so they gave me the choice of one of them thar sharp thingies - no thanks - or the 3650. I chose the 3650 as the best of a bad bunch but to tell ya the truth it is the superior of the three. If you've had a 7650 you instantly love the fact the 3650 is sooo light, much better speaker phone, extra memory space - a big plus for users of avantgo or readers of repligo documents (such sweet doc conversion proggie), like me. Keypad is a pain but you just have to re-learn what you once knew - never a bad thing.

I think I've lost my 7650 too. Went missing yesterday and no sign. What's the story with insurance? Will they play ball if you've just lost it?

Depends on your insurance policy - read the terms and conditions - as far as I'm aware vodafone will replace lost, stolen and just maybe damaged phones. There's a charge of 30 odd quid (an excess fee) but once the claim is accepted vodafone will have the fone out to u within 2 days at least, earlier depending on where you're living. If you lose your phone again within a year of you last claim, tho still covered, your excess fee goes up to about 70 quid but should that not occur, your excess drops back to 30 odd a year after your original claim.

my insurance is with homecare which is seperate to Vodafone. Trying to ring them but no joy.

found it! Wanna get rid though. What would I expect to get for a 1 year old 7650?

Recently the prices 02's Insurance package 'fonecover' provided by Eagle Star increased, dramatically. Especially for people with relatively expensive handsets.

€9 per month for phones worth more than €400 RRP
€6 per month for phones less than €400

I think that Vodafone also has a two tiered pricing structure also, what is the deal with other insurance providers, are they cheaper?

with homecare it's €5 a month but it seems that Vodafone no longer use them according to a Homecare rep I was talking to earlier.

I just recieved my Nokia 3650 after winning it on coca cola promotion and I think its brilliant, it has everything.

I had a sharp gx10, and I think the 3650 is a lot thinner than the sharp closed is in my pocket.

Picture quality is brilliant and there is LOADS of space!!
