Two posts on this forum in the one day is big for me but here goes.

TV3's Watermelon was very good. I had some very funny and some very sad moments. I connected you very much to the characters. I'll post some more on it later it's still on i just had to post it.

 I tried to watch Watermellon on ITV some months back but
was forced to bail out by a- A lame story line with weak dialogue but manily by b- Anna Friels spectacularly awful Orish Dub accent.

    Pityful t'was, begob! :D

    Mike.

This I'll concede the accent wasn't the best but i thought it was quite funny e.g. when she was at the job interview and James(the interviewer) says "These are very good references" to which she replies in a kind of funnyish way saying "They should be i was up all night writing 'em"

There was some-other quite amusing bit i just can't remember now.

compared to the book, "Watermelon" was dreadful. As well as the terrible accents, the story has been butchered, the characters are one-dimensional and the laughs are thin on the ground.

I can't see why they bothered adapting the book for tv if they had no intention of sticking with the original (and very funny) story.
