    iot's a G5-233 and I'm trying to install win98SE on it.
I've formatted the 2gig hard drive under win2k with FAT32, copied the fies from the Win98 cdrom acorss to a folder on the hard drive and installed from it using a boot floppy.
It seems to install fine, but when it has to reboot it won't bot off the hard drive, sayoing invalid boot disk.

    Really frustrating

Is there something stopping me from using a non-gateway200 oem windows disk?

if you can get a win98 boot disk format the drive with that using

    format c: /s

sounds like there is no system files on the disk

if you need a win98 boot disc you can get one from www.bootdisk.com

or instead of formating it again just boot with the floppy and type

    sys c:

at the command prompt this will copy the files across for you

Well presumably it is trying to boot from the hard drive. In that case, you might want to try formatting on the gateway, sometimes older machines are fussy about that. Have you tried any other drives?
