Am getting married next year and due to the nature of rip off Ireland I have decided to tie the knot somewhere in Europe possibly somewhere like Sorrento in Italy
Can anyone recommend from personal experience a destination , hotel , church a restaurant or even a good travel agent that I could go to etc
I think its going to be low key enough but it always good to get info from other peoples experience.......

My Fiancé and I are heading off shortly to Antigua to get married, its just the two of us heading over, no families or friends. When we get back we will have a big celebration in a hotel with all the family and friends, our marriage will be blessed by a priest in front of everybody.

It works out a hell of a lot cheaper than your traditional (rip-off) Irish wedding that a lot of people "expect" you to have.

I'm not sure about destinations in Europe, Italy is supposed to be very nice for foreign weddings. We are booking through this company (http://www.resort-marketing.co.uk/) who are based in England and Miami. They may have something that might suit your requirements although I think they only book for long haul destinations, possibly nothing in Europe.

    Best Wishes.

I went to a wedding in the Algarve before in Montechero(sp)
They paid £4000 for a 4 week holiday church was free and the hotel the reception was in is included in the 4k.

70 of us went over best holiday ever and the couple who got married enjoyed it.
The chruch they used was small but stunning ,had gold plated everything and was heavily alramed, nicest chruch me ever see.

Good idea to go away but if you go somewere easy you can get cheap flights for everyone and have a lot of peeps over.

We were all on same flight booked with same agency and worked out stupidly low for us all.

At least one of the marrying parties must be a resident of the country in which they intend getting married. If not all you can get is a blessing, cannot get a legit civil wedding which will have to be done back here anyway. Expensive holiday....

South of France is probably best spot in Europe for weddings.

My brother got married in June in Portugal. 92 of us went over for one or two weeks. Great holiday and it cost the bro and his wife half of what it would have cost here and he was there for 3 weeks.

Kdjac: Sounds very like our one. Stayed in Montechoro and the church was in Almancil near Quinta do Lago. A listed historic church which was only opened for the ceremony. Gold plating and murals all over.
