Anyone recall a cartoon public service type ad that used to be on in the evenings on RTE in the mid 80s.

In it, a country family put their dog outside for the night, the dog joins a pack of wild wolves and the stalk the sheep fields before tearing a poor sheep limb from limb in freaky watership down style graphic violence! the ad ended with a voiceover saying something like

"Keep your dog indoors, running free could be a killer!"

As a boy I thought it said

"Keep your dog indoors, one in three is a killer!"

Because of that ad I was freaked out by angry looking dogs for years! especially that one on the side of bus eireann coaches.

I'd completely forgotten about it. Though I think it was a pack of dogs, rather than wolves.

Living in the country I know it is well true though. Can be pretty gross seeing the "remains". Plus they tend to "do" more than one.

Anyway, it kept me indoors on dark nights for sure.

it was pretty poor animation and completely lost on the dubs...but do you remember the cheap czechasolavkia cartoons they used to show in the late 70's....not that was bad. Utv used to show the likes of bugs bunny, woody woodpecker, the pink panther was on bbc and RTE got boris the wood cutter from slovakia....its no wonder Bosco was such a big hit, anything would look good compared the that ****e.

Remember the ad. Quite scary it was too.

    It is what it's.

Jesus, yeah. That ad was well scary. And then the dog came home all cuddly and doggie again. But we saw... we saw how evil that *astard was! Oh yes.
That fire ad with the thumpthump soundtrack and the couch in the dark room, with fire licking up the walls. Does anyone remember? Now that frightened the crap outa me. I used lie awake at night worrying about whether me mammy had turned off all the electrical items.

I'm still thinking about this one. Wasn't it a real dog? (as opposed to a cartoon)

    It is what it's.

    Yeah, you're right.
Was the dog brown and white?

    Best ad ever that was.
    Sheep dying - very satisfactory.
Nearly as good as the foot and mouth news bulletins.
    Pyres of burning dead sheep.
    Good show.
