Anybody know where Inishowen officially starts when travelling on the Letterkenny\Derry road?

As far as I know, there is no 'official' start to Inishowen. It runs from the Foyle to the Swilly from just north of Carrigans to south of Burt. You know how flat it is down there? That's because it was part of Lough Swilly, and was drained. The water came across and met the Foyle, and that's why Inis Eoghain was the 'Island' of Eoghan.

The entire cityside of Derry (everything to the west of the Foyle) is also part of Inishowen, though not many know it. The waterside and the entire west of Co. Derry was part of Tír Eoghain (Tyrone), so the entire sheband, Tír Eoghain and Inis Eoghain was owned by Prince Eoghan, son of Niall of the Nine Hostages. Tír Conaill (the rest of Donegal without Inishowen) belonged to his brother, Conall.

Also if anybody with 'County Pride' from Derry, Donegal or Tyrone starts whining, just remember that the English made up the counties - they're not natural boundaries.

Attaching a little map I took outta Autoroute.
