I had 'Death in holy orders' (BBC1) down to record on both last Sat & Sun night and on both occasions it'failed' to record, does anyone know why this happens, its very annoying and does not give me much confidence in the system. On both occasions, ichecked that i had the red R notice beside each recording time on the Sky+ planner, so why did'nt the box record the programs??

If a recording fails it gives a reason. Check the bottom of the programme information box. It should be there. I have not had a single failed recording yet (me touches wood).

If you have a series link setup and there was a clash you are not always warned about it. If you are worried about possible clashes select the programme you definately want and press the blue button (Keep). This will prioritise that recording.

    Nice tip there Shane.

I find that the BBC are normally excellent at updating their EPG info if the schedule changes.

I've only ever had one failed recording - but my box was turned off at the time, so that's fair enough I guess! :)

    In standby? Or unplugged?

The box records fine for me in standby.

It was unplugged from the mains!

Ah well, that would explain the failed recording :D.

I had a couple of more failed recordings so I took the bull by the horns and rang Sky. A very helpful lass told me what to do -

    a) Put box into stand by

    b) Plug out box

    c) unscrew the two input cables on right hand side and change them around

    d) tighten up everthing and repower box

    Everything is working perfectly since

The reason i was getting 'failed to record' was officially due to loss of signal, however this was'nt happening when I was watching 'live'

So i hope this info may be helpful to anyone who has a similar problem
