Just signed up to UTV broadband and i'm looking for an ethernet modem to go with my router. Can't seem to find a place that prices in euro and ships here. I know afew english places, but its a pain dealing with them (serling and the like). Suggestions on makes and modems would be welcome to.

To mods: might make this, or a similiar thread a sticky

I would recommend the UK sites as IMO they work out cheaper even with the exchange rate and P&P.

I got my DSL-300+ from elara. IT Direct have it too for the same price, but it was out of stock when I went into them. This was the only ethernet modem I could find locally.

Considering how small the price difference is between a modem and a modem/router, it would probably make more sense to buy a modem/router. If you badly want to use the router you already have, you can disable the router mode on the modem/router, and turn it into a regular modem.

Dsl-Warehouse now have an Irish version of their UK website with Euro prices and delivery.

    www.dsl-warehouse.ie

I bought my Draytek Vigor 2600 DSL router from them last week, it took just two days to arrive. I had to buy it from their UK site as the Irish site wasn't up and running yet.

Their prices seem to be very good and their customer service is excellent.

The only thing to watch out for is that the microfilters they sell are for the UK and therefore not suitable for Ireland.

Thats what i probably end up doing, looking at elara's netgear wireless, seems excellent, any body know what speed it goes up to (11/22/55 mb wireless)

bk, that you for that link, dsl warehouse was the english company i was thinking about, but i hadn't realised they had an irish site.

at 32 euro for postage, its cheaper to buy from england, nice to by irish but only when its cheaper.

anywho the Model DG824M netgear Wireless ADSL Modem Gateway with 4-port 10/100 Mbps Switch, says its only 11mbit wireless, does anyone know if theres a firmwire hack/update which will allow it to be fast (i.e. 54mbit)

I bought from Broadbandbuyer.co.uk. They sent the wrong Wireless card & charged me £25 Sterling for postage on the rite one.
Considering I also had to pay the postage to send the wrong one back I did'nt even bother.
Wont buy from them again tho! - Thick Prats!

PS Does anyone want a DVB Satellite Card for the giving away?
